I was stupid today. After checking the weather, i decided to head for Oostduinkerke. Arriving there around 13h30, a few pilots were soaring the dune so i immediately hopped into the air too, but unfortunately without much success: the wind dropped and was too north. After some playing around, things started to change, we got a perfect north-westerly wind, but sometimes quite strong... I decided to continue playing in front of the dune... way in front of the dune... oh yes, I was definately waaay in front of the dune... but hey, even when I was way in front of the dune, suddenly my glider started flying backwards and speedbar and pulling big ears didn't help me a bit... after a few seconds I was behind the dune, in the bushes... and that sucked! The picture speaks for itself. Luckily, my brother (not a paragliding pilot) was with me today and it took the two of us about 2 hours to remove my glider from the bushes... just before it became dark, we had the glider removed *fwew*. I like Oostduinkerke because mistakes like this most of the time don't have a lot of bad consequences... a dune is quite soft after all... but believe me, the bushes behind the dune... THEY SUCK! ;-)
